RedCup’s CFB Playoff Prediction

On the threshold of week six, the deep contender pool is no closer to a  mock playoff. But, assuming certain, expected conditions and elementary norms are met, i.e Alabama going undefeated here’s my premature playoff prediction.

Disclaimer: My thought process drips with recency bias.

  1.  Alabama                                                                     2.  Ohio State                3.  Notre Dame                                                                 4.  Oklahoma

Oklahoma’s offense hasn’t withdrawn after the loss of Baker Mayfield, as Kyler Murray has filled his shoes seamlessly.

Notre Dame’s survived the murky half of their schedule with two marquee wins over Michigan and Stanford. They still play their annual chess match with the committee, debating the face value of a conference championship. But, stamping a 12-0 record should make them an easy-in.

Ohio State’s win over Penn State at Beaver Stadium was season defining, and with glittery Big-10 losing it’s luster, Ohio State looks to be a safe bet.

Alabama remains the winning-tsar and — “bold take” — the title favorite.

How does the situation play out for our fellow CFB Experts?

Evan Norris:

  1. Alabama                                                                       2. Ohio State                    3.  Oklahoma                                                                    4. Washington

Austin Schumacher:

  1. Alabama                                                                       2. Ohio State                      3. Georgia                                                                        4. Clemson

Colin Giley:

  1. Alabama                                                                       2. Ohio State                      3.  Oklahoma                                                                  4. Clemson

Luke Thomas:

  1. Clemson                                                                       2. LSU                                  3. Ohio State                                                                   4. Alabama

Will Cash:

  1. Alabama                                                                       2. Ohio State                       3. Clemson                                                                     4. Georgia
