After some upsets near the top of the rankings, Gonzaga is your new number 1 heading into the final week of February. Gonzaga thrashed Pepperdine and beat a solid BYU team, 102-68. With Duke being the former 1, move down to #3 after their home loss to North Carolina on Monday. Virginia is able to hop Duke to the #2 spot in this week’s rankings.

Other notable movers is Nevada after they dropped a road game to San Diego State earlier in the week. The Wolfpack should be fine though, as they are basically a lock for a 3 seed and worst case scenario is finishing with a 4.

Maryland was the biggest riser, climbing up 7 spots all the way to #17. They defeated Iowa by a point on the road and beat Ohio State, 72-62. Kansas State also rose 7 spots in the rankings all the way to #16. But, they will fall a little bit in next week’s after last night’s loss to Kansas.

Buffalo jumps up 4 spots in this week’s rankings. For the first time in rankings history, Wofford has joined the party as they are ranked #24 in this week’s rankings. They are having a very good season and sitting at 24-4. Don’t expect them to drop out any time soon as well as they seem to be on a roll right now.

North Carolina was able to rise 3 spots after their road win against Duke. And finally, Michigan State moves up to #6 after a very good Sunday road win over Michigan.
