The Good, Bad, and Ugly: Week 1, 2019

All I can say is that I did not expect this week to go anyway that it did. We had TOO many upsets, if that is even considered a thing. Also, we had some great play out of younger players and veteran stars. Hopefully, come Week 2, we can get some stability among the leading teams.

The Good: The Top 10

“Oh that’s too easy of a thing to say”. I can already hear it now. Well guess what, these were the teams that showed up and impressed us all to show they can be capable of making the playoffs. I was thoroughly impresses, however, with Oklahoma, Georgia, and LSU. All of these teams could easily slip into the Playoff, especially with some rough showings by the traditional locks.

The 125th season of Oklahoma football began with a 49-31 victory over Houston. #OU125 #OUDNA

The Bad: Comeback Flu

WHAT A COMEBACK!

Poor Oregon. NOT. The Oregon Ducks practically had this game in the bag, but just could not finish for any given reason. Offense just seemed to be an issue for this team when it came time to play in the fourth quarter. I will give credit to the Auburn Tiger’s defense for showing a superb effort, however, you cannot dismiss how Oregon just couldn’t finish. Looks like it will be up to Utah, Washington, or Washington State to make the Playoff for the PAC-12 because we know how the committee is stingy about PAC-12 losses.

The Ugly: S-E-C…S-E-C

Memphis, North Carolina, Georgia State, Wyoming. That is a list of teams that took down their SEC foes in Week 1. That is the most random list of teams I have ever seen. Not a single piece of my college football mind, would I think I’d be seeing Georgia State dethrone Tennessee or this overly hyped Missouri team lose to Wyoming. Now SEC, if you want to be hailed again as number one, go earn it back.

📆 Biggest Upsets vs. SEC Teams Since 2005:

-30: Arkansas vs. UL Monroe (2012)

-29.5: Ole Miss vs. Jax. St (2010)

-28.5: Florida vs. Georgia Southern (2013)

-27.5: Miss. St vs. S. Alabama (2016)

-26: Tennessee vs. Wyoming (2008)

-24.5: Tennessee vs. Georgia St. (Today) 🐆 pic.twitter.com/AfbLxLMAFz
