The Good, Bad, and Ugly: Week 3, 2019

College football is already three weeks in (well four if you include Week 0) and it has been an interesting one to say the least. We have the powerhouses trudging their way to the playoff committee to state their case and teams trying to make a name for themselves. Now lets see what is really going on in the scape so far:

The Good: Jalen Hurts

He is my pick for Heisman, easily. Ever since leaving Alabama, this starting quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners has been nothing but perfect. In fact, Jalen Hurts is responsible for more touchdowns (13) than he is pass incompletions (12). Now that right there is very remarkable for any player at any level of play. If Jalen Hurts stays on this trend, the Sooners might be favorites heading into the Playoffs.

Passing: 10/14, 206 yards, 2 TD

Rushing: 11 carries, 141 yards, 1 TD

The Bad: North Carolina Tarheels

Imagine from escalating to the top of your division’s talk to the middle or maybe not in it at all. This is the unfortunate case for the North Carolina Tarheels. The Tarheels were down by 21 at halftime when in-state rival Wake Forest stepped up to the plate. Even though the final score ended up being 24-18, the Tarheels lacked any explosion coming out of halftime, and obviously in the first half. Lets hope Mack Brown can get this under wraps as soon as possible.

The Ugly: PAC 12 Curse

Can we just call it exactly that at this point? Any time it looks like a PAC 12 surge is beginning to happen, the teams slowly drop out one-by-one. First it was Oregon, then Washington, and now USC. This is a reoccurring theme for this conference and is the ultimate reason they get left out of the playoff conversation a lot.
