For the third week in a row, Texas Tech has fallen in heartbreaking fashion. In this week’s edition, Tech made a miraculous comeback in the fourth quarter. The Red Raiders battled back from a 34-17 fourth quarter deficit. Tech was even able to tie the game on an Antoine Wesley touchdown catch. Unfortunately, a 29 yard Texas touchdown with 21 seconds left eventually held off the late comeback bid.

In replacement of Alan Bowman, Jett Duffey showed improvement. The sophomore passed for 444 yards on 37 completed passes. Duffey also led the Red Raiders in rushing with 80 yards. However, Duffey did make some mistakes that cost his team. The sophomore had two redzone turnovers, one being a fumble at the Longhorn’s 16 yard line, and the other being an interception at the Texas three. Duffey certainly wasn’t perfect, but he showed that he was able to run this offense until Alan Bowman is ready to return.

A lot of Duffey’s success came when he threw to Antoine Wesley. The star wide-out grabbed eight passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Wesley continues to put up monster numbers.

On the other side of the ball, the Texas Tech defense broke at the worst possible time. On the final possession of the night, the Red Raiders couldn’t slow down the Sam Ehlinger led Longhorns. It only took seven plays for the Texas offense to drive 75 yards and end all hopes of a Tech comeback.

Sam Ehlinger passed for 312 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. Most importantly, Ehlinger was able to play turnover free football.

The Tech offense was able to put up enough points to win. This loss needs to be put on the Texas Tech defense. The Red Raider defense gave up 469 yards and failed to come up with key stops countless times.

Tech will look to get back to their winning ways next week when they take on Kansas State.
