Virginia Tech Defeats Notre Dame To Open Up ACC Play

Virginia Tech opens up conference play with a win over 10-4 Notre Dame with a score of 81-66. Virginia Tech improved to 12-1 and 1-0 in the ACC as the Irish fall to 10-4 and 0-1 in the ACC.

For most of the game, the Hokies and the Irish were neck and neck. The Hokies would go on a small run occasionally, but the 3 point shooting from the Irish kept them in the game. TJ Gibbs was especially good for Notre Dame from 3. He totaled 19 points and hit 5 of 10 3 pointers. He continuously hit big shots that kept the Irish close for most of the game. Eventually, the Hokies offense started to surge and an 11-0 run put the Irish behind for good.

Kerry Blackshear was a dominate presence in the paint. Kerry led the Hokies in scoring with 21 points on 9-18 shooting. Kerry also grabbed 7 rebounds for the Hokies.
